Why do we waste so much food?

These days a lot of food is getting thrown away. I would like to state the reasons for food waste.

It  is very common phenomenon and, doubtlessly, arouses controversy. According to research, in the UK people throw away nearly 7 million tonnes of food each year. This problem is most appearent in developing countries. It's worth remembering that millions of children (not only) go hungry every day.

One of the main reasons for thrownig away food is, in my point of view, preparing or buying too much. Then we aren't able to eat everything. With passage of time, for example vegetables or friut, go off. In addition, we often forget about  dairy products or cold meats which we have in the fridge and, as a result, we don't use it on time: after their "use-by" dates we shouldn't eat this food.

We should be aware of grave implications for our environment, budget... Food waste brings painful reults. For instance, I am thinking about the economic consequences to producers of food wastage. According to experts, food waste has an negative effects on climate, water and land.

What about you? Are you preparing food that ends up being thrown away?
