A few words about literature

Today I would like to share with you one of the books which I've read recently. Elsa Drucaroff wrote a novel entitled: "Promised hell: from shtetl to Buenos Aires" and, in my point of view, it's worth devoting special attention to this book.

At the beginning of my entry I bring this author closer to you. Elsa Drucaroff was born in Buenos Aires on 1957 and she teaches literature at the University of Buenos Aires.  Apart from that, she is an author of many essays. This is her third novel in which she brings up subject as prostitution and illegal immigration. The main character, Dina, is a Polish Jew who struugles for independence, freedom and, first of all, with herself. But what's unusual about this character is, in fact, her courage.

The plot of "Promised hell: from shtetl to Buenos Aires" takes places in Argentina in the thirties: there were very hard times because of social, economic and political difficulties. I belive that this novel can help us to understand something that we cannot see directly.

The skill of the writer shows in really detailed analysis of human psyche. Elsa Drucaroff focuses especially on women's feelings and presents different points of view. What's more, she veaves some facts into the novel, which means that the book becomes very touching.

Why don't we go to the doctor?

Hi there!

Today I would like to bring up the subject of illness again, but what puzzles me is why don't we go to the doctor when we feel bad?

In general patients are negative about medical appointment for numerous reasons. These days confidence in public health care is falling dramatically. A lot of doctors decided to be on strike, which caused confusion and very long queues. Furthermore, many patients have a real problem with prescriptions. All of this makes it more difficult to see a doctor. That's why people are willing to desist from the appointment or pay more for medicines. Nobody likes beating a dead horse.

It's worth pointing out that we have an alternative: we can choose a private doctor's office. Unfortunately, it costs a lot and no one can afford to arrange an appointment. Only members from well - to - do families take an advantage of private medical practice.

In my point of view, we need medical care, but we are too ashamed to see a doctor. What's more, we are scared of diagnosis and we have a habit of imagining problems that don't actually exist. We are always imagining the worst possible outcome: it leads up a blind alley.

Moreover, we are too busy to take time to go to the doctor. It is becoming more and more difficult for us to finish the job sooner. Of course this has an impact on our health. What about you? Do you care about your health?

Do you have difficulty relaxing?

These days we are living in a hurried society in which people are throwing themselves into their work, duties... I'm under the impression that we forget about complete rest. What's more, we aren't aware of necessity to be relaxed. In my point of view, popular culture, the mass media, our inner circle provide us a surfeit of stimulus. All this causes that we taking our eye off the ball, losing distance. We wanted to keep up with all novelties, be a valuable employee and have time, quite a lot of time for our mates. Because of that, we aren't capable of distinguishing essential matters from unimportant details. I suppose that the crucial thing that is lacking is a time to soothe our emotions. It's worth discovering the mindful way to manage them, but it's hard.

According to experts, when we resign from the relaxation and, furthermore, we live in suspense, it has a disastrous effect. Our immune system is depressed and we are weak. Consequently, we are unable to operate at maxumim efficiency.  After a while, our body seizes up.

Why do we have difficulty relaxing? There are a lot of reasons. For instance, we consider that this is a waste of time, simply common laziness. We are convinced that we can achieve success, realize our dreams only thanks to really hard work. Because of that, we think that we don't earn a rest after all that work. One of the excuses that we give is lack not only of time, but also of money.

Do you belive that half an hour is enough to have a rest? We should develop the habit of relaxation.

What rights do children have?

Hi there!

How are you? I caught a cold and, unfortunately, I infected my friend. What a pity! Today a lot of viruses go airbone and you can be ill really quickly and easily. You are exposed to risk especially in densely populated places. I've visited one of these places lately with the aim of buying a dress for christening: I went to the store. There I met with something really frightening, it was very distressing experience.

When I came into this store I heard really deep and resonant crying. The whole time a little boy was sobbing. He was exhausted, maybe hungry and overheated. At the same time his mother was engaged in other activities and she wasn't pay attention to his howl. At least one of the customer asked her to calm the child down. She proposed her that she tooked him in her arms. The women refused: in her point of view, the child was spoiled. What's more, some psychologist recommended that she should ignore this behaviour.

I was shocked at this situation and, to be honest, I almost burst into tears. The child kept on weeping, women were quarreling with themselves and someone decided to dial 112. Somebody said that she is a bad mother and maltreats her children. The mother was insisting on her arguments all the time... A few of customers tried to explain to her that she should cuddle him... Thanks to hug, he stopped crying...

Do you think that we have the right to interfere in someone else's affairs? How do we respond to child abuse in order to help him?

Do you fancy learning a foreign language?

Hello again!

I woke up to the sound of birds chirping this morning. Spring is coming! Hurray! At least I can see the light at the end of the tunel. What a relief! I hope you had the opportunity to hear this beautiful song.

Today I would like to give you a few reasons to learn a foreign language. It's worth pointing out that, apparently, it pays to devote time and effort to acquire a new language. You can derive satisfaction from this!

Firstly, thanks to learning languages you can get a well - paid job and, thereby, rise your standard of living. What's more, if you earn more it makes you feel not only appreciated, but also valued. At the same time, you get rid of complex which turns out to be really beneficial.

Furthermore, it's necessary to mention that learning a foreign language helps you to become open with other people. When you carry on a conversation with them you learn about foreign culture, customs and religion. In my point of view, we should be tolerant of other people's beliefs and, what's more, treat each other with respect.

In my opinion, other reason to learn a foreign language is, doubtlessly, the opportunity to travel and visit a lot of incredible, breathtaking places. You get to see some charming scenery and have an unforgettable experience.

Do you fancy learning a foreign language?

In anticipation of spring

Hi Everyone!

I'm sorry for my absence, but I was fully immersed in work. I promise to put a few words in a blog systematically.

How are you? I hope you're curious about my entry :)

I swear blind that today more and more people is waiting for a spring. As far as I'm concerned, I am fed up with all this winter. I feel like putting my thick overcoat at the bottom of the wardrobe. Recently I've put lavender there to make my clothes smell nice. Furthermore, I'm always fastening buttons askew. It is so annoying. As if all that weren't enough, I have a habit of lose my woolly hat.  This is one of the reason why spring is better than winter: I don't have to wear a hat.

I love spring because the air smells cleaner and everything wakes up (for example, a lot of beautiful insects as butterflies, june bugs...). The flowers are in bloom and it makes me happy. What's more, it's a perfect temperature: it's neither cold nor hot. You can do many activities: you can have a picnic in the park and spend a great time with your friends or fly a kite. For me, spring is a time of rebirth.
